‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ represents a significant and highly resolved chapter in Jeremy Houghton’s exploration of duty, vigilance, and those who operate at the highest level of service.'
Bringing together a new collection of paintings inspired by James Bond and the institutions surrounding him, the exhibition sits naturally within Houghton’s long-standing practice of documenting elite worlds rarely seen from the inside. (See the new collection so far in the installation tab above, on this page)
The catalyst for the series was a chance visit to the White Gallery in 2025 by former 007 Pierce Brosnan, prompting a return to a subject with which Houghton has a uniquely personal and professional connection. His association with Bond is not symbolic but experiential. As Royal Artist in Residence to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Artist in Residence for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Houghton painted the historic moment when Daniel Craig’s Bond escorted the Queen to the Olympic Stadium - a convergence of monarchy, cinema, and national identity kept alive by his painting ‘Heel!’

Further deepening this narrative, Houghton was commissioned in 2013 as Tour Artist for the Aston Martin Centenary, painting the iconic silver DB5, one of the most recognisable objects in Bond mythology. These works form an important bridge between fiction and reality — between cinematic symbolism and lived service.
For collectors, ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ is best understood as part of a continuum. In 2009, Houghton served as Artist in Residence to the Gentlemen at Arms, the Monarch’s official bodyguard, during their quincentenary year. His current body of work focuses on another 500th anniversary, this time by invitation from the Swiss Guard, the Pope’s private protectors. Together, these collections form a rare and coherent visual archive of men who have served Queen, King, country, and faith.
This exhibition offers collectors the opportunity to acquire works that sit at the intersection of British cultural history, contemporary painting, and a uniquely privileged access to institutions of power - themes that define Houghton’s most sought-after work.
'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', will be unveiled at an exclusive private view on Thursday 26th February 2026.
